Digital Broadcasting in MediaCorp
MediaCorp Technologies has developed extensive knowledge and experience in the development, implementation, operation and maintenance of both Radio and TV transmission stations. Besides our strong foothold in analogue broadcasting, we have pioneered the rollout of digital transmission both in DAB and DVB-T platform. Some of the applications/services we have developed for digital broadcasting include:
Digital Teletext
Asia's first teletext service will get a new look and new functionalities come next year. Work is in progress to launch a Digital Teletext service, giving users a much better experience.
EPG
The Electronic Programme Guide is the gateway to all MediaCorp interactive services. Here's where you access digital video channels, information services and games.
HDTV
MediaCorp has started producing some high definition content including tele-movies and documentaries. MediaCorp Technologies will begin a HDTV trial soon. A pilot service is in the works.
Interactive TV Services
MediaCorp's suite of interactive services include Programme Associated Data applications where users can interact with a TV programme. Users get cast bios, episodic synopsis, and participate in polls and contests. Users can also access information like news and weather updates throughout the day at their convenience.
IPTV
Datacasting service using DVB-T. Organisations and companies can have their own dedicated channels to broadcast their content. For example, a clinic can have its own dedicated health channel.
TVMobile
The world's 1st DVB-T system on a mobile platform was commissioned in 2001. It is now installed in over 1,500 buses and in food courts.
T-Commerce
Shop via the TV set. Working with merchants and payment providers, MediaCorp launched a T-commerce service as part of the Infocomm Development Authority's (IDA) Connected Homes project.
